Ice rink

The outside temperature might not go below zero this Christmas, but the temperature on Plaça Cataluña will! This relatively new tradition is providing one of the world’s biggest outdoor ice rinks. The heart of Barcelona turns to ice and is full of joy!

Harbor swim

For the people who like to push their bodies to the limit and aren’t afraid of a challenge. At noon on Christmas day a 200 meter swim across the harbor is hosted for the bravest. This event is called The Copa Nadal (e.g. Christmas Cup) has been organized since 1907! The Christopher Columbus will be the starting point, make sure you arrive there before noon!

 

Three Kings Parade

This parade is highly famous in Catalonia and Spain and the place when the Wise Men arrive during Epiphany (6th of January) to deliver their precious gifts to the Son of God. However, this date isn’t the most important day. The day before, the 5th of January, is Barcelona’s biggest annual event, the Three Magi cruise into Port Vell by galleon. Around 4pm the festive event will start, when the ship bearing the Three Kings will sail into the port. Don’t expect to be the only one, since it’s the most celebrated event especially for children.
