La Ramblas Street

La Ramblas is the most popular areas for shopping in Barcelona. Small shops dot the famous street and the surround areas. There are some trendy and boutique shops, but most are traditional or tourism focused shops.

The street is also littered with elaborate street performers for the entertainment of visitors. The street also ends at the harbour and is accessible for people to walk along. If you lucky you may even catch a local market or two on your walk along the water!

Placa Catalunya

At the end of Las Ramblas the square of Placa Catalunya has the largest department store in Spain called El Corte Inglés. There are also shops around the square as well and are also department store focused.

The square itself is the biggest in Barcelona. It has statues, fountains and beautiful views of Barcelona’s most famous street, Las Ramblas. It is also one of the most popular metro stops, located right under the plaza. It’s easy to stroll its vase and open spaces while observing the beautiful Catalonia artisan sculptures, some which date before the turn of the century!

Gothic Quarter

The best part of shopping in the old part of town is strolling through the quiet streets of the city, away from the crowds, and finding authentic stores dedicated to the locals. You could even say they are secret and reserved for the city insiders.

The Gothic quarter also has hidden squares, perfect for sipping coffee and enjoying the quiet and peaceful streets. It’s not hard to find boutique and unknown stores filled with unique treasures. There are plenty of vintage or artisan shops in this area due to its rich artisan welcoming culture.
