What you will find at the Jardí Botànic de Barcelona

The Botanical Garden of Barcelona is biodiversity and landscapes, although it is also art and architecture. Located on the mountain of Montjuïc, it covers an area of approximately 12 hectares. Hence, it is one of the largest green spaces in Barcelona.

The place welcomes more than a thousand species of diverse origins. Specifically, it proposes a tour through eight vegetal scenographies from various corners of the world as different as Australia, Chile, California, North Africa, South Africa, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands.

Through this enriching walk, you can enjoy the botanical varieties that grow in the shelter of the Mediterranean climate. The eucalyptus, the bottle tree, the acacias, oleanders, arganias or cedars are some of the species that you will find on your path.

The crossing is made through a number of slopes and in the middle of a landscape environment of great beauty. In the Jardí Botànic de Barcelona nothing is arranged by chance, because, in fact, the combinations of species have been designed millimetrically according to their needs for light.

Some of its main points of interest are the bonsai sample, the hotel for bees, the nursery or the pond.

An ideal visit for any season of the year

One of the advantages of visiting the Jardí Botànic de Barcelona is that it can be done in any season of the year. Each season has its peculiarities. While in summer the landscape is, in general, much more arid, in autumn the activity recovers with the awakening of numerous bulbous plants. On the other hand, winter is a time when roots grow and spring is the period of flowering.
The Botanical Garden of Barcelona is reached after a few minutes of walking from our family hotel in Montjuic, although it is also possible to access by funicular.

It opens every day at 10 a.m. until 7 a.m. during the months of April, May, September and October. The entrance has a price of 3.50 euros. More information here.
