What MACBA has to offer

The building that houses MACBA was built in the 90’s according to the geometric vision of architect Richard Meier. Light is key to the conception of this museum. Inside you are greeted by luminous rooms that draw you into a circuit that begins with the abstraction of the 50’s and continues on the cutting edge of the decades that follow, characterized by movements such as photorealism and poetic experience. Finally, we arrive at the 80’s, where the currents reacting against minimalism dominate.

The MACBA collection includes about 5,000 local, national, and international works of art. Latin American and Eastern European artists are highlighted, although they are certainly not the only ones. The museum has a place for all perspectives: North Africa, the Arab world, and the Middle East.
